TRAIL names new Executive Director
Christine Scheetz has been elected by the TRAIL of Johnson County Board of Directors as TRAIL’s Executive Director, effective February 1, 2025.
“Christine joined TRAIL’s Board of Directors in 2024 and brought a uniquely valuable combination of knowledge and skills to the organization,” said Susan Shullaw, TRAIL board chair. “When she expressed interest in the Executive Director position, we were thrilled. Christine’s experience in all aspects of nonprofit management, and especially in working with older adults, will help TRAIL expand its reach to serve Johnson County’s rapidly growing senior population.”

Scheetz, a resident of Tiffin, is principal and owner of Senior Care Authority, serving clients in Iowa and several other Midwestern states. She has worked in healthcare-related nonprofit and for-profit organizations in Iowa and Indiana for more than 30 years, including leadership roles at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties, among others.
An Iowa City native, Scheetz earned her B.A. degree from the University of Iowa and a Master of Public Administration degree from Drake University. She has served in numerous local, regional and national volunteer roles, and is a Certified Senior Advisor and a Certified Dementia Provider.
“I am honored to join TRAIL of Johnson County in this role and build on its strong foundation of supporting older adults in our community,” said Scheetz. “I look forward to working with our dedicated volunteers, members, donors, and partners to enhance independence and enrich lives through connection, life-long learning and support.”
TRAIL of Johnson County is a membership-based nonprofit organization that helps older adults live more safely and comfortably in the places they call home.
