Welcome to TRAIL's new Executive Director!

Robert "Bob" Untiedt has joined TRAIL of Johnson County as its new Executive Director, effective November 2, 2020.

“Bob was the board’s unanimous choice out of a very strong slate of candidates,” says Alex Taylor, chair-elect of the TRAIL Board of Directors. “His extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, his work with boards and volunteers and his strong ties to Eastern Iowa make Bob an ideal fit for TRAIL at this point in its evolution. The needs of Johnson County’s older adults will only grow in the coming years, and TRAIL is committed to serving those needs far into the future.”

Untiedt, of Marshalltown, most recently served as Executive Director of the Orpheum Theatre there, and previously served in executive director roles with Main Street Ottumwa, the Linn County Nonprofit Resource Center and Hollywood Interfaith in Los Angeles.

An Eastern Iowa native, Untiedt holds a B.S. degree in business and sociology from Coe College and a graduate-level certificate in nonprofit fundraising from the University of San Francisco. He has served as a consultant for numerous Iowa nonprofits in the areas of strategic planning, communications, conflict resolution, marketing and fundraising. He is a member of several local and statewide nonprofit boards, including the Iowa Children’s Museum in Coralville.

“I enjoy working with older adults, and I’m energized and inspired by TRAIL’s mission, which not only helps members find services like transportation and medical advocacy, but their own way to live a quality life,” Untiedt says. “This creates a network of relationships and a sense of community that’s at the heart of the TRAIL ethos. I’m eager to help make this very good organization even better.”
