Celebrating TRAIL milestones

On October 26, 2016, TRAIL held a Progress Party to thank our generous early donors and volunteers, and to provide an update on what we’ve accomplished thus far.

Here are some of the milestones we’re celebrating:

  • Thanks to more than 50 TRAIL Blazer pledges and other gift commitments, we’ve raised more than $91,000 toward our year-end fundraising goal of $120,000.
  • Our new Founding Families giving level, which seeks gifts or two-year pledges of $5,000 or more from multigenerational families, has attracted its first family contributors.
  • Gifts like these are helping build a strong financial foundation, enabling TRAIL to hire a part-time executive director early next year, launch volunteer training and membership recruitment soon thereafter, and begin offering services in April 2017.

An experienced endorsement

At the October event, our 40+ guests heard from Pat Brockett, who shared her experience as a member of Capitol Hill Village, a Washington, D.C., organization that provides member services similar to those TRAIL will begin offering in 2017. Pat and her wife, Jefri Palermo, are our first Founding Family contributors.

“The benefits of Capitol Hill membership were quickly apparent, from volunteer services and the vetted vendor list to socializing opportunities,” Pat said.

“When I moved to Iowa City, I was delighted to learn about TRAIL. I’m a firm believer in setting a good example, and having seen how important Capitol Hill Village was for its members, I want to do everything I can to help TRAIL succeed.”

Help us reach our funding goal!

TRAIL will continue working toward its year-end fundraising goals as December draws near, and we hope to add an online giving option soon. Until then, visit the Donate section on our website for more information, or send checks to TRAIL at 308 East Burlington #196, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. Thank you!
